Animal Charity Bracelets – The amazing work your bracelet supports

Working with, and donating a percentage of our profits to, charities is one of the most important elements of our work at Life Less Ordinary. When we started this business, we committed to donating at least 10% of our profits to charity and we have continued to team up with some amazing charities and causes. Earlier this year, Life Less Ordinary were fortunate enough to team up with the amazing animal charity Born Free. We designed a range of personalised animal charity bracelets to celebrate the amazing work that they do and capture the spirit of the beautiful animals that they help to protect. We are donating 15% of the price of each bracelet we sell to this amazing charity, supporting wild animal welfare and conservation all over the globe. Each ethical charity bracelet can be engraved with a message on the back, making it as unique and wonderful as the animals you are helping to save. We wanted to give you more of an insight into the work that Born Free do and some of the amazing project that they support all over the globe. Which is your favourite Born Free animal charity bracelet?

About Born Free

Born Free works tirelessly to ensure that all wild animals, whether living in captivity or in the wild, are treated with compassion and respect and are able to live their lives according to their needs. As a leading international wildlife charity, they oppose the exploitation of wild animals in captivity and campaign to keep them where they belong – in the wild. They promote Compassionate Conservation to enhance the survival of threatened species in the wild and protect natural habitats while respecting the needs and safeguarding the welfare of individual animals. They seek to have a positive impact on animals in the wild and protect their ecosystems in perpetuity, for their own intrinsic value and for the critical roles they play within the natural world.

The projects that inspired our Born Free animal charity bracelet designs

Before designing our Born Free range of animal charity bracelets, we took a look at the amazing work that they do all over the globe. Let us tell you a little about the projects that inspired our Born Free bracelets.

Wolf Conservation – Our save a wolf charity bracelets were inspired by Born Free’s Wolf Conservation Programme. Their goal is to protect the Ethopian wolf, of which there are only around 500 left in the wild. They do this through education within the community, supporting habitat protection, monitoring the population and helping to prevent and control disease. These majestic creatures are actually more rare than the giant panda.

African Elephant Conservation – One of our favourite animals in the world, we were keen to design an elephant charity bracelet to represent the amazing work Born Free do helping to save elephants in the wild. Born Free runs programmes and work alongside like-minded partners to conserve and safeguard African forest elephant populations in Liberia and African savannah populations in Kenya. Their projects include close monitoring of elephant populations, finding ways to counter human-wildlife conflict, and working with national and local authorities in supporting ranger patrols to reduce poaching threats in order to safeguard wild African elephant populations, both now and in the future.

UK Wildlife Conservation – It is easy to believe that wildlife is only in danger in far away countries, but there are many species that need our help right here in the UK. Every year, thousands of wild animals are injured or killed in the UK as a consequence of us, human beings. Born Free supports the work of numerous wildlife rescue centres and sanctuaries in the UK to rescue and rehabilitate injured and orphaned wild animals. The sanctuaries they support are managed by amazing people who give their free time to care for sick, injured and orphaned animals. With limited funds and no government or other guaranteed external funding, they take in wildlife casualties from the public, veterinary surgeries, local councils and other large agencies such as the RSPCA. As dedicated animal lovers, they never want to turn an animal in need away. This amazing work is why we designed our fox charity bracelets and owl charity bracelets, to celebrate the amazing work these sanctuaries do.

Orphan Bear Rescue – Our bear charity bracelet was inspired by the great work that Born Free do in Russia saving orphaned bears with the Orphan Bear Rescue Centre (OBRC) in Russia to rescue, raise and rehabilitate brown bear cubs and prepare them for release back into the wild. They also work with charities in Asia and Europe, some of whom played a crucial role in ending the dancing bear trade and continue to work towards the end of illegal captivity of these beautiful creatures.

Ocra Conservation and campaigns – Our save the whales charity bracelet is inspired by the conservation work that Born Free support through funding the work of OrcaLab. These charities have the shared aim of conserving, studying, and safeguarding the wild orca population off the coast of British Columbia, Canada. Born Free also campaign against the exploitation and confinement of orcas, and other cetaceans, in captivity.

Not only are our Born Free animal charity bracelets helping to save wild animals, they are also cruelty free and sustainable. Each charity bracelet is made from our amazing tagua seed, which is known as vegetable ivory as it is tough, durable but totally cruelty free.

Each ethically made animal charity bracelet can be personalised with an engraved message on the back, making it a truely wonderful gift for the animal lover in your life. All of our tagua seed bracelets come in zero waste packaging - presented in a cotton bag with a seed paper gift note that you can plant and grow flowers from
